Canada's largest FREE new year's eve extravaganza features Dragonette, Hedley and Nelly Furtado

(ET) Canada and Niagara Falls New Year's Eve event partners have announced an electrifying roster of musical talent for Canada's largest televised New Year's Eve event featuring
This free show begins at 7:30 p.m. in Queen Victoria Park overlooking mighty Niagara Falls,
and it draws more than 40,000 people. Included are two spectacular fireworks displays during the evening as well as food and beverage vendors and an outdoor licensed area.
Nelly Furtado is a Canadian singer, songwriter, record producer and actress who first gained fame with her debut album, Whoa, Nelly!, which spawned two successful singles-"I'm Like a Bird" and "Turn Off the Light". "I'm Like A Bird" won a 2001 Juno Award for Single of the Year and a 2002 Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.
Furtado's work has earned her numerous awards and accolades, including 2 Grammy Awards, 10 Juno Awards, 3 MuchMusic Video Awards and a star on Canada's Walk of Fame.
With 15 Juno nominations, the list of Hedley accolades includes: double platinum certification of the most recent release Storms (2011), current single "Kiss You Inside Out" went #1 at AC, and top 5 at HAC and Pop and is the band's biggest selling single to date.
They were awarded 'Pop Album of the Year' at the 2012 JUNO Awards, had one of the most successful coast-to-coast Canadian arena tours of all time in early 2012, three consecutive double platinum certifications - Hedley (2005), Famous Last Words (2007) and The Show Must Go (2009); over 1,000,000 digital singles sold; four 2012 JUNO Award nominations, 2010 JUNO Award for 'Video of the Year' ("Perfect"); thirteen consecutive #1 videos at Much Music; three Top Ten radio singles from Storms ("Kiss You Inside Out", "Invincible", "One Life"); four Top Ten radio singles from The Show Must Go ("Perfect", "Cha-Ching", "Don't Talk to Strangers", "Hands Up"); and listed as one of the top 100 touring artists in the world of 2010 (Pollstar, October 18, 2010).

Two spectacular fireworks displays
At about 8:45 p.m. and midnight, watch as 2,000 pounds of fireworks launched from the Skylon Tower, down in the Niagara Gorge, and for the first time, directly above the Falls themselves!

ET Canada will go live from Niagara Falls at 7:30 p.m. ET/PT on Global during its regular timeslot. Later, the two-hour, coast-to-coast live television broadcast countdown will begin at 10 p.m. ET/PT, hosted by ET's Cheryl Hickey, Matte Babel and Global Noon News host Rosey Edeh.
Last year's New Year's Eve broadcast on Global peaked at 12:01 a.m. with 1.9 million viewers and a total reach of 4.8 million.
This is one of the main events of the 30th annual CAA Winter Festival of Lights which is now underway until January 2013.
