Accommodations (Multiple Search Engines)
There's no consistency in which of the many search sites has the best deals and the online booking industry has consolidated, so you find more sites with the same prices. For example, Expedia owns Hotels.com, so they share the same inventory. Orbitz owns Cheaptickets.com.
You can search multiple sites from one site.
IgoUgo.com sends your search criteria to multiple booking sites, triggering as many as a dozen searches. You put in your dates and select which sites you want to search, and IgoUgo saves the time of setting up searches independently at each site. www.IgoUgo.com
Mobissimo.com searches multiple hotel bookings sites at once and display different prices on the same properties available at different booking sites. www.mobissimo.com
Hotwire.com offers unnamed hotels you pick by star rating and neighborhood. Prices tend to be cheaper because hotels dump unsold inventory on places like Hotwire and Priceline, particularly because they are anonymous. We have had great success with Hotwire in cities such as Toronto, London, England, San Francisco and Pittsburg.
